Puppy Watch '07

The Tribble puppies arrived last night. All males! Nothing but stinky, smelly boys! That throws a wrench into my plans... Now I need to make a decision, do I want a male, or do I wait for the CeilidhXRoy litter and hope there's a girl? The good news would be that I'd be guarenteed a red... Possibly a red tri, right Mandiee? ;)

Taking Christmas picture...

Dakota, Cody and Tink

I bought a picture frame for my Granma for Christmas for dog pictures. I decided to go to my Aunts house to take pictures of all 3 of our dogs for it. We got hit with probably the biggest snowstorm in years, and I decided to drive in it, and it's only my first winter driving. I had to get out at one point to shovel part of the road with my snow brush! After a very slow drive I got to my Aunt's house, and after visiting a bit started taking pictures. It's hard to take pictures of 3 dogs at once, but I got some ok shots before Dakota quit altogether.

Pup Art

Please enjoy my 'beautiful' paintings. They took years of slaving to finish! ;)
Tripp; The father of Tink, Vash and the upcoming Kestrel

Vash; the first one I ever made, lol, red dog!

Tink; man is this one the worst! I need to find a better picture to use!

A bird in the hand...

Just a quick puppy update. Amanda's female pup from the Tribble X Tripp litter will be born around the 28th of December! Mark your calendars. They are expecting around 7 puppies! Yay, puppy goodness. Now, how to get across to Tink that she's gonna have to put up with a new bundle of fur?

The call name I have chosen is Kestrel, or Kessie for short... Kes for even shorter;) I am having trouble thinking of a good registered name. It needs to be a maximum of 15 letters including spaces and has to start with 'HiQ'. The one name I had thought of was HiQ Bird of Prey (a Kestrel is a type of small Falcon) but it's just over the mark at 16! Oh, the dilemma! I'm sure I'll think of something...

Also for a name I had thought of Sera and would have like HiQ Que Sera Sera as a registered name, but alas it's even longer at 17 characters! With the circumstances surrounding the breeding, I think it would have been more fitting, but I've had my heart set on Kestrel, Tink was almost Kessie instead!

I will post pictures as soon as I get thim! But in the mean time, please enjoy this 'artists' rendering of what Kestrel could possibly look like!

Doggie down!

Tinky has a boo-boo on her toe, from a cracked pad. At least she'll walk on it now. She'll need to take it easy for awhile, which is hard for a Border Collie!

Flushed Away

It's 10:15 on December 2. The day of Tink's agility trial. So why am I sitting here writing this blog? This is why...

We got a ton of snow last night. I hate snow... wait, hate is not a strong enough word for what I feel for snow. So here I am sitting at this stupid computer instead of having a blast at the trial. It sucks so bad that we don't have a chance to play, it sucks that $87.50 is flushed down the toilet... and who's going to eat the eight sandwiches I made for lunch? Sigh! That's my rant.

Sit on it!

At the AAC Nationals Mandiee and I each bought custom painted chairs by Shannon Darch at http://www.sdarchatanimates.com/ they were delivered on Sunday morning and look fantastic!

Fenris Fennigan is back!

Twigg X Zed puppies. 4 girls and one boy.

Puppies!! One with lots of red on her too.
Kaity holding her puppy "Porkchop."

Porkchop again.

Fenris with his bandage and traditional smile.

And he's better than ever ;) Fenris went on a 3 week break to work some things out, and now thanks to our, breeder, trainer, vet, and friend Dawn from Hiqborders.com he is back and he is doing great! Everyone has been commenting on how much of a difference there is now. If he wasn't so unique in markings I would have thought she switched him with another dog. The coolest trick Fenris can do now is retrieve a hot dog and drop it on command, and it's still nicely intact! I'm not even sure if Vash could do that, but now I'm interested in trying it for fun to see. He still acts like he hasn't been fed in days when he eats, (I promise you, he does eat every day!) but at least now when he does he will leave the food alone when you tell him to. And the other great part to this is now Autumn can help with feeding Fenris now too. She used to get upset when she wasn't able to.

Also, Fenris had quite the adventures during his stay with Dawn. It will probably forever remain a mystery but Fenris got quite the cut on his front toe. It did require stitches, but something that does say a lot about Fenris and his character is how he didn't even seem to notice or care that he had this deep cut on his paw. Also while Fenris was put under so he could get his stitches, he was given the "snipsnip" so I am sure Steve is glad he doesn't have to worry about getting that done anymore.

So Dawn if you are reading this, thank you so much for all you did for Fenris!

And Steve, if you are reading this, put this dog in some obedience classes!! :P

Also, seeing that we had to drive Steve to Caledon to get Fenris, Amanda and I had to get all we could out of it by renting the agility hall for an hour, and also visiting some very cute puppies: http://hiqborders.com/twiggpups.cfm I also brought my sister Kaity for the drive, where she fell in love with a puppy who she kindly named "Porkchop" the funny part is, after she put Porkchop back with her siblings she forgot which one was porkchop! We helped her figure it out and took some cute pictures of the two of them together. Kaity was also bit by the agility bug on saturday, and is interested in trying it again. We are going to need that bus real soon with all the people we get interested in agility.

Deadly Dancing

Here's a link to a Border Collie doing a really creative freestyle (or Dog Dancing) routine that Mandiee found. This is not one of our dogs, nor one that we know, just thought it was fun.

Over the Edge Agility CDDA Disc Trial

Vash and Tink hangin' out at the OTEA disc trial.
Tink and Vash had a fun weekend. Getting to participate in the Pickering Santa Claus parade, getting lots of laughs and comments on their holiday outfits. They also went to the OTEA Disc trial in Bowmanville. Both dogs and their handlers have some kinks to work out over the winter, but still had lots of fun. Vash earned 19 and 8 points, and Tink had 28 and 23 points. Both dogs did well in the fun game, pile of discs, but didn't get any high point discs and neither made it to the top.

A Border Introduction

VASH

First up I shall introduce Vash! Owned by Mandiee Vash is a very exhuberant and stunning red and white border collie. Always looking for a game to play, and somebody to play with him. He is currently competing in disc dog, and training for agility, and even competed in dock dogs! Vash is from HiQ Border Collies, his registered name is HiQ Stampede and his parents are Tribble and Tripp (Power Tripp Border Collies) His only littermate is sister...

TINK

Tink is a hard working, quick black and white Border Collie in a small frame. She'll do anything for a game of tug. Tink and her owner, Amanda, compete in disc and agility, and, like Vash, has competed in dock diving too! Her registered name is HiQ Tinker Toy.

FENRIS

A Black Tri Border Collie, Fenris is a puppy from Vash's very first litter. He belongs to Mandiee's husband, Steve, and despite my better judgement figured he could be introduced too ;) Still under a year he is a typical pup. Full of energy and play. Fenris comes from HiQ as well (his dam is Twigg) and his registered name is HiQ The Wolf.

Up and Coming!

We are excited about our newest additions in the coming year. Tribble has been bred to Tripp, and with any luck, Amanda will meet her newest addition in January! As well as Vash is planned on being bred to Tasha a beautiful blue border collie from Power Tripp Border Collies. Puppies due to be born around June with any luck! Mandiee will be taking her first girl from this litter. We are all excited about our future adventures!
